Couple Starves And Neglects Children To Play Video Games

by Jon Henshaw

A UK couple were just sentenced for grossly neglecting their 4 children, because of their addiction to online gambling and video games. The local authorities described the abuse as the worst neglect they’ve ever seen. The children were literally left to fend for themselves, and were lacking food, clothes, and hygiene care.

The eldest child, who was left to look after the other children, couldn’t eat because her teeth were so rotten from only eating sugar. Soon after being discovered, she had to have all of her teeth removed.

The children were lacking food, bedding and nappies, and the youngest child’s nappy was heavily soiled. One of the children was asleep on a bare, dirty mattress. Two of the other children were “wandering about barely dressed and dirty”, while the third was wearing pyjamas “black with dirt”.

The kitchen floor was covered in rubbish and, on closer inspection, was found to be “caked with grime, grease and foodstuffs”.

If you’re a parent, like I am, this story seems too awful and unbelievable to be true. You can read the full story at Scotsman.com.

It’s not about people who do or do not have video games. It’s about people who neglect their children to live in a fantasy world. I’m a mom who absolutely loves her Xbox 360 and Morrowind, Oblivion. I still pull myself away from it to take care of my children.

If you want your parents to buy you video games, show them you can be responsible. Set yourself a time limit and stick to it. Hey, I admit it’s hard, but it will win you respect with your parents, plus get you more of what YOU want!

The following is a letter in response to your article about Romania mistreating and abusing children.

Communism devastated Romania, so there is not a lot of money in the country, so if there’s not a lot of money, where would the money to fund orphanages and such facilities come from? Nowhere. It isn’t that the children in those facilities are mistreated deliberately, it’s that there isn’t enough money that goes to those places. It’s not the current government’s fault that Romania lost money because of communism! Of course that countries which used to be communist lack funding for certain things! Romania is rapidly recovering from an economic crisis. The country is improving greatly. I am sure that things will change for the better and, may I repeat,THE CHILDREN IN THOSE FACILITIES ARE NOT ”MISTREATED,UNDERFED AND TORTURED” DELIBERATELY. IT’S ALL A MATTER OF MONEY.

Thank you for the comment, Louise. That is a much better response than all of the ones which blame it on races. I hope things do improve, that would be wonderful.
