Other security precautions that may prove to be life saving are biometric devices. For instance, a biometric deadbolt lock is a fingerprint-activated deadbolt that is impossible to pick, bump or drill and includes an impact alarm should intruders try to enter. Or perhaps you could try biometric security boxes and vaults that are fingerprint activated to secure your jewelry or handguns. These devices are worth checking out as they offer a new level of security for you and your loved ones.

Interesting topic. I am sure almost everyone has considered what might happen in the event of a home invasion. I wonder how many people would have a gun available to be of any use in a situation like that, but also be safe in a family home.

Thank you, Frank. I actually own a handgun, but we keep it locked away with the bullets in a completely different area. I doubt it would be much good to us. I’d prefer to keep them out completely!

There are a lot more actions you can take to prevent a home invasion as I’ve listed at http://homeinvasion.ca.

Probably the most important three things are: 1) security film on windows and a secure front door, 2) an internal security gate, and 3) a handgun. You are certainly within your rights to defend your person with a gun and you will find plenty of people in your neighbourhood (try the NRA) to help you do this.
