{"id":395,"date":"2006-08-09T08:49:55","date_gmt":"2006-08-09T14:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/?p=395"},"modified":"2006-08-09T08:49:55","modified_gmt":"2006-08-09T14:49:55","slug":"oh-holy-gods-of-routine-have-mercy-on-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/09\/oh-holy-gods-of-routine-have-mercy-on-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Oh Holy Gods of Routine, Have Mercy on Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something occurred to me today &#8211; in less than five days, I will again be at the mercy of the metro public school scheduling&#8230; Lazing about making excuses to the kids as to why mommy is still in her pajamas, bed hair still in full flourish and face still unwashed at 10am.\u00a0 I will no longer be able to let my son stay up for fun late night movie time with me..\u00a0 I will now be setting the alarm for 6am, rushing out the door at 720am and driving through dreadful mid-town traffic at the beginning of each day.\u00a0It should be fun though, in some capacity.\u00a0 I <strong>do<\/strong> always enjoy seeing the other mothers there in their &#8220;workout clothes&#8221; (a clever ruse for not wanting to get out of your pajamas) and looking a little worse for the wear than I feel&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>And, my sweet son is starting first grade.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t say I have ever seen him so excited about anything in my life.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a big year for him.\u00a0 God, it goes so fast doesn&#8217;t it?\u00a0 We set our watches by routines and schedules to keep up with it all and, somehow, I think it is how we cope with watching\u00a0our children grow up and into their own skin.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a beautiful thing to see, each year measured out into grades and summer vacations.\u00a0 It&#8217;s our way of controlling time, I suppose.\u00a0 We try to wrangle it into our terms but, the reality is that it slips by incredibly fast.\u00a0 No matter how much we press it into our planners or calenders, our children will keep growing and keep yearning to be older and wiser.\u00a0 And, while I rush to pack the lunches each morning and sleep through the set alarms &#8211; time will keep pushing my children along their path.\u00a0 As it should be.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll just have to remember to make a note on my calender not to miss them too much.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Something occurred to me today &#8211; in less than five days, I will again be at the mercy of the metro public school scheduling&#8230; Lazing about making excuses to the kids as to why&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[59],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-395","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-daily-living"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/395","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=395"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/395\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=395"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=395"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=395"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
