{"id":423,"date":"2006-10-01T19:35:35","date_gmt":"2006-10-02T01:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/?p=423"},"modified":"2006-10-01T19:35:35","modified_gmt":"2006-10-02T01:35:35","slug":"food-poisoning-101","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/2006\/10\/01\/food-poisoning-101\/","title":{"rendered":"Food Poisoning 101"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had my first experience being the parent of a kid with food poisoning yesterday, thanks to Sonic.\u00a0 Against my better judgement and my usual disregard for fast food of any sort, I found myself in a bind yesterday &#8211; we were counting on eating lunch at the birthday party we\u00a0had just attended but\u00a0pizza was served and, somehow, my son hates pizza\u00a0like\u00a0most kids hate brussel sprouts-\u00a0so we\u00a0swung by and let the boy pick anything he wanted.\u00a0 Anything.\u00a0 He picked a corndog.\u00a0 Apparently, and I&#8217;m only taking a wild guess here, but the evil cornbread coated weenie was the culprit.\u00a0 By 10pm that night the poor kid was projectile-ing anything and everything he had eaten in the last ten hours &#8211; all over the bathroom, kitchen and, of course, not <em>his<\/em> bed but <strong>our<\/strong> bed.\u00a0 I felt so bad for him.\u00a0 In between blows, he would look up and say &#8220;do ya think the cake made me sick?&#8221;.. &#8220;do you think it was the corndog??&#8221;.. &#8220;do you think it was the roller skating???&#8221;&#8230;\u00a0 He had gone to his very first roller skating party and I think the sweet darling thought that he was having delayed motion sickness &#8211; but I had my money on the\u00a0greasy stick injected\u00a0meat composite.\u00a0 He was a real trooper throughout the whole\u00a0thing &#8211; I even had to stop him from helping me clean up the floor.\u00a0 It was pretty upsetting for him, I think.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the flu there is significant\u00a0warning to any horrific vomiting episodes that might occur.\u00a0 The sweats, the chills, the fever &#8211; all good indicators that things aren&#8217;t right.\u00a0\u00a0Food poisoning, though, creeps up on\u00a0you.\u00a0 I tucked him in, kissed him good night and entirely out of nowhere he starts groaning like a collapsing steel bridge and when I suggest he take some time in the rest room we are, within seconds, all covered in\u00a0&#8211; well, you get the picture.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t even say that I have ever had food poisoning (knock wood, knock wood)&#8230; My husband has &#8211; actually had to rush to the hospital for dehydration.\u00a0\u00a0Awful.<\/p>\n<p>So, I just let him take it easy today.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t force food on him\u00a0though, by the end of the day, I was being a little pushier than this morning.\u00a0 I had realized that he didn&#8217;t want to eat because he was scared he would throw up again &#8211; not because he wasn&#8217;t hungry.\u00a0 I&#8217;m quite certain, judging by his requests for dessert tonight, that he is feeling much better.\u00a0\u00a0Just thought I&#8217;d share.\u00a0\u00a0 Aren&#8217;t you\u00a0glad.\u00a0 Nothing like a good food poisoning story.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had my first experience being the parent of a kid with food poisoning yesterday, thanks to Sonic.\u00a0 Against my better judgement and my usual disregard for fast food of any sort, I found&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[81],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-423","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-healthy-eating"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/423","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=423"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/423\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=423"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=423"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=423"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
