It&#8217;s here."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The flu has arrived in full force in the Donovan house.\u00a0 We are all walking zombies with plenty of unstoppable green funk flowing from our noses.\u00a0 The babies are being sports.\u00a0They are sucking it up\u00a0and working through it.\u00a0My husband, however, not so much.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t quite figure it out &#8211; why do men suck at being sick?\u00a0 I noticed it as a girl when my dad would get sick and act like he was being tough.\u00a0 But he failed.\u00a0 Miserably.\u00a0 He would walk around moaning, literally, and wait for someone to ask if he needed anything.\u00a0 Then, when someone (Usually me.\u00a0 My mom had figured out his game I guess) would ask if he needed something, he would wimper and say &#8220;nah, I&#8217;m just fine.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t mind me&#8221;.\u00a0 Then, more wimpers would follow and I would follow him around doing things for him and scampering to make sure he didn&#8217;t have to lift a finger.\u00a0 My husband &#8211; a little different.<\/p>\n<p>He gets sick with bravado.\u00a0He actually pranced in the house with zinc cough drops the other day and annouced &#8220;Well, I&#8217;m sick!&#8221;.\u00a0 I rolled my eyes.\u00a0 He doesn&#8217;t understand why I am so unsympathetic.\u00a0 <em>I<\/em> don&#8217;t understand why it is an <strong>event<\/strong> to be sick.\u00a0 He rolls around in his sickness like a pig in mud.\u00a0 And, he expects me to roll around in it with him &#8211; not to necessarily be sick with him, per se.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 He just really wants someone to be around to watch him be sick.\u00a0I get every little detail about what is feeling bad &#8211; right down to the color of the snot. \u00a0I don&#8217;t get it.\u00a0 Men &#8211; help me out here.\u00a0 Is it the whole nurture instinct that I&#8217;m supposed to be whipping out here?\u00a0 Why do you guys wallow in your illness while we women tough it out and get on with the show?\u00a0 Come on.\u00a0 You&#8217;d think you guys would want to show how tough you are.\u00a0 Instead, you become whiney little boys again.\u00a0 You&#8217;re all lucky we women love you so damned much.\u00a0 And that you manage to be mildly cute while your fussing up a storm about how bad you feel.\u00a0 I guess there&#8217;s no changing it.\u00a0 Thousands of years of evolution hasn&#8217;t managed to help men shake it &#8211; I guess me ranting about it won&#8217;t do it either.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s to the flu.\u00a0 Wish me luck in kicking it&#8217;s ass (in all four of us) this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The flu has arrived in full force in the Donovan house.\u00a0 We are all walking zombies with plenty of unstoppable green funk flowing from our noses.\u00a0 The babies are being sports.\u00a0They are sucking it&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-457","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-health"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/457","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=457"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/457\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=457"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=457"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=457"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
