{"id":462,"date":"2006-11-22T09:50:14","date_gmt":"2006-11-22T15:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/?p=462"},"modified":"2006-11-22T09:53:19","modified_gmt":"2006-11-22T15:53:19","slug":"you-dont-gots-ta-burn-ya-bra-but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.familyresource.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/22\/you-dont-gots-ta-burn-ya-bra-but\/","title":{"rendered":"You Don&#8217;t Gots ta Burn ya Bra&#8230; but&#8230;&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It never hurts to think a little bit and make small efforts towards the change you want to see in the world.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s fair to say that having kids trumps anybody&#8217;s (man or woman) intense involvement in social issues.\u00a0 Yes, we all think about them &#8211; and chances are we really want <strong>more<\/strong> of\u00a0a change once we have kids.\u00a0 But, where we find the time to get out there and rally and volunteer and make phone calls&#8230;. I hate to say it, but, in the parenting circles it&#8217;s a lot of talk about how much we want things to change but not a lot of action.<\/p>\n<p>I came across this <a title=\"site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mothersmovement.org\/index.htm\">website<\/a> and it is one that I visit daily now.\u00a0 Mothers Movement ONline is a resource for social justice issue &#8211; and parents that want to stay\u00a0active despite their time\u00a0constraints.\u00a0 Just reading the articles keeps me abreast to some issues that I feel like I have lost involvement in &#8211; hopefully, once the kids are older I will not be so seperate from causes and issues that I will be able to jump head first into them when my children are more independent and I have more hours in the day.<\/p>\n<p>I urge any of you out there that feel like you have had to put your inherent activist\/social justice\u00a0interest on hold (rightfully so &#8211; social justice begins with good parenting and a loving home.. what we do every day as parents\u00a0is, truly, at the core of social justice) to keep up with this site &#8211; if not every day, at least once a week&#8230; It is, at the very least, a way for you to stay aware and make thoughtful, every day decisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It never hurts to think a little bit and make small efforts towards the change you want to see in the world.
