ForReal.org
In June 1996, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Donna E. Shalala launched Reality Check, a national public education campaign designed to counter increases in marijuana use by youth by designing tools to help parents communicate with their children. Today, Reality Check continues to provide information and activities for parents and other concerned adults working to prevent marijuana use in their homes and communities.
But what about teens? Where do teens go when they are looking for reliable information on marijuana and its effects? While marijuana is one of the top searched words in the major search engines, most of the sites that turn up in search results contain mixed messages, a majority of which promote marijuana use. Enter ForReal.org ?a site designed for teens looking to find out what the real deal is behind marijuana. A companion to Reality Check , the goal of ForReal.org is to provide a safe space for young people to ask questions and get answers about marijuana, the most widely used illicit drug in America. Be sure to check back regularly to see what we've added and if we've answered your questions.
ForReal.org is also part of the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI), the information service of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. NCADI is the world's largest resource for current information and materials concerning substance abuse.
