Research shows that being clever is good for your health

Liam McDougall in The Sunday Herald reports:

A study has shown that heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer, arthritis and strokes were all more common in adults who scored lower in IQ tests as youngsters.

The research, from a team at the Harvard School of Public Health in the US, showed that for every extra 15 points scored on the intelligence test at the age of seven, the chance of illness as an adult was reduced by a third.
